Dogs Dig The Beach!

Now that springtime is here, everyone is ready to get out of the house including my dog Dabo! And what better way to enjoy the sunshine, meet other dog lovers, and just get some exercise. There are over six dog friendly beaches within 20 miles of the Wilmington area, and they are a huge hit with everyone. Check out to get the, “Dig”, on all of them.

  1. Wrightsville Beach is perfect for your pet and allows visitors to bring their furry friends during the months of October 1 through March 31.  Dogs must remain on their leash or there a stiff fine of $250.  Wrightsville Beach received 2.5 bones out of 5 for being a Fido’s favorite.

2.   Carolina Beach is dog-friendly with 5 out of 5 bones!     Leashed pets are allowed on the beach before 9am and after 5pm from April 1 through September 30. From October 1 through March 31, leashed dogs are allowed on the beach at all hours. Dogs are not allowed on the wooden boardwalk or boardwalk business district. The fine for breaking these rules is $250.

3. Enjoy a fun day at the beach at Topsail Beach Off-Leash Dog Beach during the off season. Dogs must be on a leash from May 15th through September 30th. At other times dogs are required to be under voice command and can be off-leash. Owners must remove any waste left by dogs on the beach or in town. Topsail Beach gets a tail-wagging 4.6 bones out of 5!
